As a human being, I relate to little things; objects of whimsy and kindness. I find that small moments can often create a dynamic energy that grander things cannot. In my paintings I seek to find these cheerful inconsequential moments and use them to convey my own voice.
I consider all my work experimental and revel in the excitement of new discoveries that arise out of the process of my experimentation. As such, I try not to limit myself to one media or one subject but rather experiment with how materials react alone and when combined.
I find humor to be an essential element of much of my recent work and find myself painting with a sarcastic touch. All of my art, in some manner, is a commentary on my experience as a woman in the modern world. I play with issues of scale and identities in my work in response to the pressures I feel are put on women and men in our culture. I paint for everyone who has ever been called cupcake.
